Catastrophic Loss

Created May 8th, 2026

When catastrophic tornadoes hit on the night of May 6, it changed Kelsey’s life in a matter of seconds. Kelsey, a former Brookhaven police officer and current dispatcher with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, lost virtually everything when a devastating EF-3 or EF-4 tornado completely destroyed her home.

But the hardship didn’t stop there. While searching through the wreckage trying to recover whatever clothes and personal belongings she could salvage, Kelsey fell and went to the hospital with several broken ribs and a possible separated shoulder. Even in the middle of tragedy, Kelsey continues serving others. She has been working as one of our MHP dispatchers and wants to pursue her dream of becoming a Mississippi State Trooper and joining the ranks of the Highway Patrol.

Now, she needs us. Please keep Kelsey and every family affected by this devastating tornado outbreak in your prayers. If you are able, please consider donating through FundTheFirst to help her rebuild, recover, and get back on her feet.

Sometimes the people behind the radio are the very ones who need someone to answer their call for help.
