We are organizing this campaign to assist the family of Ret. NYPD 2nd Grade Detective Peter Gianatiempo who left this world too soon. Peter is survived by wife Dawn and two children Pete and Nicole.
Peter gave 26 years of his life to the New York City Police Department. Peter was well respected within the ranks of the NYPD and embodied an illustrious career as a highly decorated Detective, spending 19 of his 26 years within the Organized Crime Control Bureau, working in many capacities, including Narcotics. He amassed a multitude of medals, accolades, promotions, was a 9/11 first responder, and proudly followed in the footsteps of his father, also an NYPD Detective.
Peter will always be remembered for how he lived. He was a husband, a father and Hockey Coach.
Peter loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and also the many children he had the pleasure of coaching in Hockey. As he would say, many who crossed paths with Peter left “fingerprints on his heart”.
The loss of Peter will leave a void in the lives of his wife Dawn, his children, his family, and anyone else who was lucky enough to call Peter a friend.

I met Pete through his work with the Rangers. It was evident how much hockey, the Junior Rangers and our alumni meant to him. He was always great for providing a compliment, lifting spirits and his loyalty. May he rest in the sweetest peace.
