Early this morning, while they were asleep, Officer Eduardo Mejia, his wife Stephanie, and their children, Lucas and Elisa, experienced every family’s worst nightmare when a fire erupted in their apartment. Thankfully, everyone was able to escape safely and no one was injured. However, the fire caused devastating damage, leaving the family displaced and with the difficult task of rebuilding their lives.
In a matter of minutes, they lost their home, clothing, personal belongings, cherished memories, and the place where they built their life together. They are now faced with starting over from scratch.
Officer Mejia has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the people of New York and Connecticut as a member of the MTA Police Department. Throughout his career, he has worked tirelessly on patrol, standing on the front lines during some of the most challenging times while selflessly protecting the communities we serve. In addition to his service as a police officer, Officer Mejia is an active member of the MTA Police Department Hispanic Society, where he has continued his commitment to supporting both his fellow officers and the communities they serve.
Now, he and his family need our support.
We are asking members of the MTAPD PBA, the MTA Police Department Hispanic Society, our law enforcement family, friends, and anyone willing to help to consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help Eduardo, Stephanie, Lucas, and Elisa secure temporary housing, replace essential belongings, and begin the long process of rebuilding their home and their lives. Your support, generosity, and prayers during this difficult time are deeply appreciated.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word.
Let’s come together, as we always do, and support one of our own during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and support.
