On March 17, 2026, Detective Mehran Fayaz was doing exactly what he was ordered to do.

In full uniform, he was on his way to a detail assignment using his personal vehicle because no department cars were available.

While stopped at a red light, his car was hit by a box truck.

His vehicle was destroyed.

He was taken to the hospital.

And despite everything his Line of Duty (LOD) claim was denied.

* Only $6,500 remains for his totaled car.
