Please assist a fellow NCPD Police Officer’s family. Members of the NCPD Sixth Precinct are asking for your help to support our brother Richie Ponzini and his family as they go through an extremely difficult time in their lives. This past June, Briana Ponzini-Britt 29-year-old sister of Nassau County Police Officer Richie Ponzini was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.

Briana was a full-time teacher at St. Mary’s in East Islip as well as a substitute teacher before she had to leave teaching due to previous pregnancy complications. Briana has been out of work for over 2 years as her and her husband Paul continued their dream to start a family.

This past June, Briana and her husband welcomed a healthy baby girl Blakely. Tragically, shortly after giving birth Briana was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with a rare grade 4 DIPG brain tumor. DIPG is an aggressive and inoperable brain tumor that is very difficult to treat.

With a newborn daughter, mounting medical expenses and a long road of treatment ahead for Briana, we ask for your support for the Ponzini-Britt family. On behalf of the NCPD Sixth Precinct, we would like to thank everyone for your continued prayers and support during this very difficult time.

In Loving Memory of Our Beautiful Briana
It is with broken hearts that we share that our beautiful Briana has passed away after her courageous battle with brain cancer. Words can’t begin to express the depth of our pain or how much she will be missed.

Briana was truly one of a kind, full of light, laughter, and love. She had this rare gift of making everyone around her feel special, loved, and understood. Her smile could brighten even the darkest days, and her heart was as big as her spirit. She brought so much joy to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Throughout her battle, Briana showed a strength and bravery that left everyone in awe. Even in the hardest moments, she faced everything with grace, courage, and an unshakable will to live. She never stopped loving, never stopped caring about others, and never let her illness define her. She was and always will be the true meaning of strength and love.

Though her time with us was far too short, her impact will last forever. Briana’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her, in the laughter she brought, the love she shared, and the courage she showed every single day.

She may be gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts. Briana will always be loved, always be missed, and always be remembered as the beautiful, brave, and loving soul that she was.

Forever in our hearts,
The Family and Loved Ones of Briana

This is the first I’m hearing this. I had Briana in my Child Development class when she was a sophomore at Ward Melville. She was just as you described her- kind, sweet, and lit up the room with her personality and laughter. I am truly sadden by this news and send my condolences and love to the family. I know her bright light will live on with her daughter.
