The Shipman family is in need of our support. Kayla, an ICU nurse, and Ben, a police officer, have dedicated their lives to serving our community.
At just 30 weeks pregnant, Kayla was hospitalized due to recurrent placental abruptions. Placental abruptions are life threatening for both mom and baby. As you can imagine, this experience has been traumatizing for the whole family.
Kayla will remain hospitalized until baby Hunter is delievered. Due to the abruptions, he is expected to arrive prematurely and will likely require some time to adjust and grow in the NICU.
While Kayla focuses on keeping herself and baby Hunter safe, Ben is balancing work, hospital visits, and caring for their 4-year-old daughter, Allie.
As the Shipman family navigates this difficult season, any support will help ease the financial burden of an extended hospital admission for both Kayla and baby Hunter and the extensive medical bills that follow.
If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, your support means the world during this difficult time. ❤️
Updates
Sweet Hunter made his appearance way earlier than we were hoping for.
Kayla’s placental abruption worsened and turned life-threatening for Kayla and Hunter very quickly overnight. She had an emergent c-section that saved both of their lives.
Kayla is recovering well, but it was a very traumatic experience. Hunter is stable, but will spend quite some time in the NICU as he works on breathing, eating, and growing.
Please continue to pray and support in any way possible as Kayla, Ben, and Allie adjust to their new normal. We are on the long journey to get Hunter home. This has been such an overwhelming and scary few days for them, but we are forever grateful for the safety of Kayla and Hunter.
