It is with heavy hearts that we share that Sgt. Bill Ludwig, a dedicated member of the Amtrak Police Department and past 2nd Vice President of Fraternal Order of Police Amtrak Police Lodge 189 has been diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma, an aggressive and life-threatening form of cancer.

For years, Bill has worn the badge with honor. He has protected the public, supported his fellow officers, and led with integrity, strength, and compassion. He has answered calls at all hours, faced difficult situations head-on, and never hesitated to put others before himself.

Beyond the uniform, Bill is a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. He is the person who shows up when others need help steady, selfless, and dependable.

Now Bill is facing the most difficult battle of his life.

Pancreatic cancer demands immediate and aggressive treatment, including extensive medical care, chemotherapy, and the possibility of major surgery. The road ahead will require strength, focus, and time away from work. While Bill fights for his health, his family should also not have to fight the financial burden that comes with this diagnosis.

This is our opportunity to stand for someone who has always stood for us.
