Fired for Doing His Job — Support Officer Joseph Magnano
Our immediate goal is to raise the first $20,000 to help stabilize Officer Joseph Magnano’s family and begin legal representation.
On February 27, Officer Magnano responded to a dangerous call involving a man in an active mental health crisis, armed with a large knife, and refusing over 60 repeated commands to drop the weapon.
For over five minutes, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation. Less-lethal options were deployed. They failed.
When the armed suspect advanced toward Officer Magnano and nearby civilians, he made the split-second decision officers are trained to make:
He stopped the threat.
Now he has been fired.
Officer Magnano has lost his income, stability, and reputation — and now faces a legal fight to clear his name.
Your support will help provide:
• Immediate family support
• Living expenses
• Legal defense and representation
• The fight for reinstatement and justice
This case is bigger than one officer.
If an officer can follow training, attempt less-lethal force, give repeated warnings, face an armed advancing threat — and still lose everything — then every officer in America is now on notice.
That is not accountability.
That is political pressure.
Officer Joseph Magnano deserves a fair review, his name cleared, and his career restored.
Please donate. Please share. Please stand with him.

Best of luck. We support all you do. You're in our prayers . ❤️🙏
I’m appalled at the lack of support shown by all ct police officers. Especially the Hartford police officers in showing support to this officer who is being unfairly persecuted because of politics.
