One day, we noticed black stains on the ceiling and wall in my daughter and son's room. It was determined to be black mold. We are confused as to how this was missed during the inspection when we purchased the home. We called a mold removal company, and they knocked down the ceilings and walls upstairs in both rooms to get rid of the mold, but they can't close the walls and ceilings back until we stop the problem, which is the roof that has rotted wood and leaks due to the moisture and mold.
We tried to file a claim with our insurance company, but they refused to cover anything because the cause is the roof. So, after paying a lot of money to remove the mold, we now have to replace the roof, which costs $35,000 because the house also has solar panels, which cost a lot of money just to remove and then have to replace the roof after. So we are asking for help. My family can't continue to live in a house with an open ceiling and walls.
