In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 24th, New York City Police Officer Chowdhury Nafees was brutally assaulted and robbed while off-duty, but in uniform, on his way home from work. Two individuals approached Chowdhury and without warning, began to punch and kick him while forcing him to the ground. Once on the ground, they held a knife to his throat and forcefully removed his service firearm, wallet and other property. Before fleeing the scene, one of the individuals stomped on Chowdhury’s face, rendering him unconscious and causing serious physical injuries.
Chowdhury was rushed to a local area hospital in critical condition after a Good Samaritan found him and called 911. He’s currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Jacobi Hospital and will be undergoing multiple surgeries in the coming days. Chowdhury was left with severe head trauma and will need oral floor reconstruction and left cheek bone reconstruction. He also has a left orbital bone fracture, right cheek bone fracture and multiple other injuries with additional surgeries possible.
Being a young, rookie officer, his family could use all of the financial help they could get, and this fundraiser was created to help offset many of the financial burdens the family will face over the coming weeks. Chowdhury has only been a police officer since September of 2024, and was an NYPD 911 Dispatcher from January of 2022 until he raised his right hand and swore into the NYPD Police Academy. Although still young and fresh on the job, let’s show him and his family the true meaning of the Thin Blue Line!

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
