Mackle and his wife, Hannah, are expecting their second son, Benny, to be delivered around May 15. Benny has been diagnosed with a rare and complex congenital heart condition called Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), along with single-ventricle physiology and additional vascular complications. He will require a series of open-heart surgeries beginning within the first weeks of life, followed by further staged procedures throughout infancy and childhood. His care will take place at Stanford, requiring the Mackle family to temporarily relocate for an extended hospital stay. They will be in the Bay Area surrounding his birth and will spend several months post-surgery in the NICU and CVICU.
Due to these medical needs, the Mackle family will need to relocate closer to the hospital, resulting in significant housing costs while continuing to maintain their home in Folsom. Additionally, Hannah will be away from her full-time job for an extended period without income coverage.
