Hello, I’m PFC Johnson with the Marion Police Department in Marion, South Carolina. I am trying to start a k9 unit in my agency, but do not have funding. I was given my k9 by my last agency Lake View Police Department in Lakeview, South Carolina because they cancel their program and I had cared for my k9 for over a year at the time. Lake View Pd never sent me to get certified with my k9, so I have to go to k9 handler’s training. I will be going to Bullards k9 in Greenville, North Carolina. Bullocks K9 trained, and sold my canine to Lake View Pd. a 2019 Explorer as my patrol unit and it will need to be fitted for my K9 as well along with equipment needed. I’m not 100% sure what all equipment will be needed at this time. I will learn about all the equipment and needs to be a K9 handler and training, but I have to pay for that first. My agency does not have funding, but my chief has allowed me to raise money myself.. I’ll take the helpful information/advice available. Thanks
