I’m reaching out today on behalf of my good friend, fellow Kiwanian, and Fire Department brother, Jamie Gasper.
Jamie is deaf, and his hearing aids are not a luxury—they are essential for him to communicate, stay safe, and continue serving our community. Unfortunately, his current hearing aids have failed, and his insurance will not cover replacements at this time. One is no longer functioning at all, and without them, even basic communication becomes incredibly difficult.
Jamie is a cornerstone of both our Kiwanis family and our local Fire Department, where he proudly serves as President. He is also an active driver, and being able to hear radio transmissions is critical. For years, Jamie has been a Top Responder—always showing up when our community needs him most. Losing his ability to serve, even temporarily, would be a huge loss for all of us.
Just weeks ago, Jamie suffered a stroke that affected his short-term memory and word recall. Despite this, his recovery has been nothing short of remarkable, and he is determined to get back to doing what he loves—serving alongside his brothers at the department.
But in the same week he returned home from the hospital, his hearing aids gave out.
Right now, Jamie is facing two major challenges at once—recovering from a stroke and trying to function without the ability to hear. His recovery and independence depend heavily on being able to communicate.
We’re asking for your help to get Jamie the hearing aids he urgently needs so he can continue his recovery and return to the department and community he’s dedicated so much of his life to.
Any support—big or small—will make a difference.
Let’s help get Jamie back up and running.
