It breaks my heart to write this on behalf of my dear friend, Theresa Ingenito, and her daughter, Mia.

Just days ago, they lost someone incredibly special—Dennis, a devoted father, son, brother… and my best friend. He was only 42 years old. His passing was sudden and has left all of us shattered.

Dennis and Theresa shared over a decade of life together, raising their beautiful daughter, Mia, who is now only 8 years old and trying to make sense of a world without her dad. The heartbreak in her eyes is something I will never forget. And Theresa—she’s doing everything she can to stay strong for her little girl, even while navigating grief of her own.

Theresa has spent more than ten years as a nurse, dedicating her life to helping others. Now, she’s the one who needs support. Watching her try to hold it together for Mia is both inspiring and heartbreaking.

Dennis’s father, a retired NYPD officer, and his brother—who still serves proudly in the NYPD—are mourning the loss of a son and brother. I’ve known Dennis my entire life, and this loss has left a hole in all of us who loved him. He was loyal, kind, and had a heart bigger than most. His absence is felt deeply by his entire family, and by everyone lucky enough to call him a friend.

No amount of money can bring him back. But in times like this, love, compassion, and support can offer a glimmer of light in the darkest moments. If you’re reading this—thank you. Thank you for caring, for being here, and for holding Theresa, Mia, and all of us in your thoughts.
