Help Wilson Ortiz’s Road to Recovery

Created October 20th, 2025

On Friday, October 17, 2025, US ARMY SFC Wilson Ortiz was struck by an unknown motor vehicle while riding his skateboard. The unknown vehicle then cowardly fled the scene without exchanging information or even checking to see if Wilson was okay. Wilson was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. He has already underwent several surgeries to save his left leg which was severely injured in the accident and to address a serious head trauma resulting in a brain bleed. He is currently receiving treatment at Westchester Medical Center and I’m told he has been in and out of periods of lucidity but seems to be in good spirits.  With several surgeries still planned in the near future, Wilson’s road to recovery is sure to be a long one.

SFC Ortiz is a Soldier with the US Army in New Windsor, New York where he serves as a section leader in 1-80 Engineer Battalion, Detactment 1. He is married with two young children who are lovingly by his side for the long road ahead.

SFC Ortiz, a combat veteran, is one of the most genuine, kind and selfless leaders I have ever had the pleasure of serving with in my long career in the military.  Without hesitation, He has been there through some of the toughest hardships his Soldiers have had to bear and it is now time that we rally together to help him and his family navigate the coming days, weeks, and months of healing. The last thing they should worry about is mounting bills. Please consider donating whatever you can to help Wilson and the Ortiz family manage medical bills and daily household expenses.

This fundraiser was established by one of SFC Ortiz’s Soldiers with expressed consent from the Ortiz family.  100% of the donations will go directly to the Ortiz family to help throughout Wilson’s recovery.
