Ethan Paul Donahue was born on May 8th, 2023, with a rare and serious congenital heart condition called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). In this condition, the arteries that carry blood to the lungs and to the rest of the body are reversed, requiring multiple surgeries beginning shortly after birth. While Ethan has already overcome more than most of us will in a lifetime, his journey is nowhere near over. He will continue to face additional surgeries in the years ahead, and there remains the possibility that he may one day require a heart transplant.

Despite these challenges, Ethan is the brightest light—full of smiles, laughter, and joy. He radiates strength and love to everyone who meets him.

His father, Keith Donahue, has served the NYPD for over 17 years and is also a union delegate supporting more than 20,000 officers. Keith is the person who always steps up — whether it’s for his community, his fellow officers, or anyone in need. His wife, Marybeth, is a full-time, devoted mother to their three boys. She manages the household, school schedules, and Ethan’s ongoing medical care, often while Keith works long shifts to provide for their family.

Unfortunately, long-term medical care brings ongoing financial strain. Even with insurance, hospital stays, procedures, and time away from work can create heavy and unexpected financial burdens — especially for a single-income family balancing the needs of three children.

The Donahue family has always shown up for others. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.
