UPDATE:
After the first infusion of rituximab it seems progress has been made to improve her breathing and symptoms. The transplant teams have agreed to get her listed for the organs. Now they will meet to determine when to actually put her on the list, that meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. She will also be receiving another infusion of rituximab within the next few days. They will also be discussing sending her home. She will be sent home with oxygen machines. Patti and Bill thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
UPDATE :
I want to give you all an update on what’s going on. The head pulmonologist didn’t like the fact that’s Patti’s o2 levels were dropping into the low 80s/high 70s when exerting herself. She is now going through testing/screening protocols for lung transplant. At a minimum the tests will keep her a week. No current time frame on when transplant would happen. It’s a rough road ahead but they will get through this.
I’m starting this fundraiser for my sister in law and my brother in law, Patti and Bill. She was recently hospitalized with what they thought was just double pneumonia. Unfortunately it was more than that, including a very rare autoimmune disorder called JO-1 which attacks the lungs and muscles. It’s unknown how long Patti will be in the hospital for, between treatment, testing, and recovery. She is in her third week in the hospital having tests run and receiving treatments. The doctors have not decided the best course of action, but we do know this will be a long medical journey. Since Patti is in Nassau, way over a hour away, Bill and the family will have extra expenses, everything from parking, yes, hospitals in Nassau charge for parking, gas, having to take time away from work and every other expense comes up, it’ll add up very quickly. I ask anyone to help please donate and/or share and pray for Patti, Bill and their family in this tough and uncertain time. Bill has been a firefighter with several departments for 27yrs, and he’s currently with Riverhead FD.
