Erik Paulsen was a NYPD homicide detective for the 75th precinct in Brooklyn NY. Erik was a husband to Christine and a father of 4 children. He was also known at Mr. Baseball, coaching and teaching his 2 sons all he knew about the sport and watching them grow. Erik started the NY Longhorns baseball where hundreds and hundreds of children from all age groups were able to play the game Erik so much enjoyed coaching. The start of the season was a very exciting time for him. Erik had a large and diverse group of friends he would invite over for a party for no other reason but to entertain and have a good time. He loved being around people he cared about and always made sure you were fed and having a good time. He was always about having a good time with friends and family.
Erik was on the job during 9/11 and was down at ground zero for several months. He worked tirelessly to help where he was needed. He retired in 2013. In September 2024, Erik noticed a swell on his neck which made it difficult for him to swallow. It was cancer and Erik would begin the most painful time of his life with chemo and radiation to minimize the tumor. Erik had succumb to his cancer on July 4th, 2025. A day he should have been surrounded by friends and family enjoying life.
