I'm Bradley, a 100% disabled veteran and an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. In early 2025 I was diagnosed with end stage liver failure. This was brought on by a genetic condition known as Alpha-one Antitripsen Deficiency. Basically this means that my liver does not produce a protein that protects itself and my lungs from damage from a multitude of factors and causes.
I was diagnosed with this condition when I was 15 years old. At that time there were no treatment options. I was told I had it and that was it. No follow up treatment. No options for continued care. Absolutely nothing. I was never told this could be the outcome one day.
Due to this condition along with all the side effects that come with it which have already caused extensive hospitalization, I had to resign from my job that I loved. At this point the doctors have told me I must get a liver transplant. That's my only option for survival. This is scary, daunting, and was eye opening. I had no idea this would be my life as an adult.
I have completed all tasks needed to get on the transplant list and I'm hopeful to be getting the call soon. This hopefully will save my life but due to not being able to work, the bills have been piling up. My hard earned savings is all but empty now and I’m relying on the last little bit to survive. The VA is not covering my treatment due to this being a preexisting condition prior to entering the military.
I'm never one to want help or ever ask for help, but times are tough and I have to do what I must to pay all the medical bills that are piling up.
I humbly am asking for your help to finish this journey back to a healthy life where I can thrive again. I want to live a long life to watch my nieces and nephews grow up. To spend time with my Mom until her old age. To continue guiding others in fishing and hunting adventures. I pray to be able to return to work once healed from the liver transplant and all required therapies thereafter.
Anything you are willing to give will be paid forward as soon as I'm able to. Every dollar truly helps. If you are unable to assist financially, please keep me in your prayers for a liver to become available that is a match, and for my health to improve once completed. Thank you in advance for all consideration and may God bless you and yours.
