It’s been a couple months since our last update, and I wanted to share where things currently stand with Becca.

Becca recently completed her fifth cycle of chemotherapy, and thankfully, the treatment is working. Her tumor has shrunk, and her doctors believe she may need only 2–3 more cycles to finish this part of her treatment.

Unfortunately, the longer she has been in treatment, the harder it has become on her body. A few weeks ago, she was hospitalized with pneumonia and inflammation in her lungs. A CT scan also found a small lump on her left lung that doctors have not yet been able to identify, and she was scheduled for a PET scan to learn more about it.

She moved forward with her next chemotherapy treatment as soon as her doctors felt it was safe. But shortly afterward she developed severe sores throughout her mouth and throat that left her unable to eat, drink, swallow, or speak. She was taken back to the ER and is currently there recovering from severe side effects and a kidney infection.

This journey has been unpredictable. Each step forward has been met with fierce adversity. But Becca is determined to keep fighting. 

Our family is incredibly grateful for everyone who has prayed for Becca, encouraged her, checked in on her, and supported her financially. Your generosity has carried her through some of the hardest days of her life, and we cannot thank you enough.

Please continue to pray for healing, strength, and peace for Becca and Jack as they walk through this difficult season. And if you would like to continue supporting them financially, every gift helps ease the burden and allows them to focus on what matters most: getting Becca through this fight.

“Hey everyone, I want to share an update on Becca's treatment and ask that you continue praying for her.

After her first round of chemotherapy, her doctors monitored her cancer levels and discovered that the initial treatment was not working as they had hoped. Because of that, they made the decision to significantly increase both the intensity and the number of chemotherapy medications she receives.

Instead of a single outpatient infusion over a few hours, Becca is now admitted to UVA Hospital for three days at a time, where she receives five chemotherapy medications back-to-back throughout her stay. Each following week, she returns for another outpatient infusion before the cycle begins again. If this treatment is effective, her doctors expect this regimen will continue for the next several months until her cancer is completely gone. They have just finished their first three day stay. 

As treatment continues, so do the many expenses that come with it—hospital stays, medications, travel to and from UVA, meals while away from home, and other unexpected costs. Several people have continued to asked how they can help, so we wanted to reshare our fundraiser for anyone who feels led to support them. 

Please don't feel any obligation, so many of you have already given so generously, and we are deeply thankful. Your prayers and outreach are just as valuable, and they continue to feel strengthened by the love and support surrounding their family.

Please continue praying that this new chemotherapy regimen will be effective, that Becca's body will tolerate the treatments well, that her cancer levels will begin dropping quickly, and that God will continue to give them peace and strength for the road ahead.
