Stand With Sheriff David Quiroga: Supporting One of Alberta’s Own
The Situation
We are calling on our law enforcement brothers and sisters, the hockey community, and our fellow Albertans to support Sheriff David Quiroga.
For nearly a year, Dave has been off the front lines. After sustaining injuries in the line of duty, he has been locked in a grueling, year-long battle with WCB for the coverage he earned through his service. During a time when he should be focused on rehabilitation and recovery, Dave has been forced to navigate a devastating financial crisis.
The Impact
The reality of being off work without a steady income has brought Dave to a breaking point:
• Risk of Foreclosure: Dave is currently facing the very real threat of losing the roof over his family’s head.
• Basic Survival: To ensure his children stay fed, this dedicated public servant has had to rely on local food banks.
Coach, Father, and Public Servant
When David isn't in uniform, he is a cornerstone of his community. As a devoted father and a Girls’ Hockey Coach, he spends his life mentoring youth and teaching the values of teamwork and resilience. Dave is the kind of person who would never ask for help for himself, but right now, he needs his community to have his back the way he has had ours.
How Your Support Helps
By contributing to this Fund the First campaign, you are helping a first responder keep his home and provide for his children while he fights to get his medical coverage resolved.
All funds raised will go directly toward:
• Housing Security: Paying arrears to prevent the loss of his home.
• Essential Costs: Utilities, groceries, and family necessities.
• Recovery: Allowing Dave to focus on healing from his duty-related injuries without the crushing weight of insolvency.
